About Isa Tenhaeff and her work

Isa Tenhaeff studied Fine Art at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (BA Environmental Art) and Sociology of Culture at the University of Amsterdam (MASc). Since her move from Amsterdam to Cambridge last September she has been working on a series of works, a selection of which is shown in this exhibition.

Isa's sociology background continues to influence her working-process, merging private observations and experiences with reflections on society and history. Bound together by a seemingly effortless hand, her images take on an unreal and sometimes disturbing character. Isa's paintings are mostly done on linen using egg-tempera and layers of oil paint, a method which allows for an expressive application of paint. Her drawings and objects are of mixed technique and materials, combining the traditional with the unconventional.
